Incident Post-Mortem for July 27, 2012

Last week we experienced several issues that affected our customers.

July 21 and 27 AM (ET): The deployment of the new link tracking system improvements has increased the number of database requests. We have had to monitor and adjust the thresholds in order to optimize capacity and performance. We are confident that the adjustment we made has permanently stabilized the databases and prevents the problem from happening again.

July 27 PM (ET): There was a power failure caused by a defective UPS managed by one of our datacenters. This power failure shut down some important components of our infrastructure. We are still waiting for an official explanation of the cause of the power failure. Once the power recovered, the servers were not able to boot automatically due to a bug in the virtualization software. We resolved the issue and restarted the servers one after the other.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and your clients.
